Lead Product Designer, Mobile

Live Video

I led mobile design for live video at Skyward, Verizonโ€™s drone operations platform, working with Disneyโ€™s location scouts and directors. We started with a shared link to test whether directors could guide a scout remotely, then brought live video more closely into the Skyward experience.

Partnership with

Bringing the director along

Disneyโ€™s location scouts captured drone footage for directors to review later. A request for another angle could mean another site visit. Live video gave them a way to look at a location together, while the scout was still there and could capture more.

Flow 1 - Anyone in your organization can access and view a live stream as it happens.

Making it easy to share

I focused on making it clear how pilots could start and end a broadcast and copy its link to share by text. The director opened that link in a standalone browser player, separate from Skywardโ€™s operations and in-app workflows.

They could use a regular phone call to talk through what they were seeing. That kept the first version focused on sharing the live view.

Flow 2 - Pilots can begin broadcast, copy a link and share with anyone.

Explorations along the way

Outgrowing beta

As people used live video and it gained credibility, we integrated it more closely into Skyward. I led mobile design and set the direction for web using familiar Skyward patterns, with the web team owning its execution.

UPS and John Deere also adopted live video for surveillance and agriculture, extending its use beyond film scouting.
